Endeavour Trophy: New Boats, New Technology, Same World-Class Racing
The stage is set for this year’s Endeavour Trophy October 3-5 at Royal Corinthian Yacht Club (UK), and for the first time, competitors will race in the award-winning Melges 15. After nine years of competition, the event takes a bold step forward, embracing a brand-new partnership with Melges Performance Sailboats.
Held on the tidal waters of the rivers Crouch and Roach, the Endeavour Trophy is an invitation-only three-day event, with the guest list hand-picked from National Champions of selected recognized fleets. The RYA recognises The Endeavour as the pinnacle of that year’s dinghy sailing achievements, which is hailed as the ‘Champion of Champions.’ The trophy itself is a solid silver scale model of the J-Class yacht Endeavour, linked to the America’s Cup challenge of 1934.
Event Organiser Edwin Buckley said, “We are especially pleased to add to the rich history of the Endeavour Trophy by racing in the new Melges 15s. Their introduction represents both a continuation of tradition and an exciting step forward, ensuring the event remains at the forefront of one-design competition while offering sailors a modern, dynamic platform on which to showcase their skills.”
“The Endeavour Trophy has always been about more than just racing—it is about honouring excellence, celebrating the sport’s heritage, and creating new chapters in its story. By embracing the Melges 15, we build on that legacy and ensure that the Endeavour Trophy continues to inspire sailors and spectators alike for generations to come.”
The Melges 15, named Boat of the Year by Sailing World in 2022, promises to deliver fast, exciting, and above all, fair racing. In July 2025, the Class hosted its inaugural European Championship in Dublin, Ireland, but has chiefly been competing in the UK under smaller, regional events. Now, looking at the Endeavour Trophy, the playing field has never been more level, bringing the event closer than ever to its founding aim of pure, equal competition.
Thanks to Melges, all 30 invited teams will be provided with brand-new, fully equipped Melges 15s. This marks the start of a three-year partnership that elevates the Endeavour Trophy to new heights.
The Endeavour Trophy runs Friday-Sunday in Burnham-on-Crouch, UK. Follow Melges on Instagram and Facebook for live event coverage and results.
