2025 Melges 15 U.S. National Championship Heads to Brant Beach Yacht Club

The highly anticipated 2025 Melges 15 U.S. National Championship is set to take place October 3–5 at Brant Beach Yacht Club in New Jersey. With 73 teams registered, this year’s event marks the largest Melges 15 National Championship to date and promises an exciting showcase of one-design sailing talent.

The regatta welcomes a stacked lineup of talent including multiple former champions and fresh contenders:

  • Chris Alexander (2024 Champion) – The defending champion returns to protect his crown, aiming to become the first skipper to win back-to-back titles. Alexander is sailing with Madeline Baldridge from Charleston, SC.

  • John Storck (2023 Champion) – Storck, a decorated sailor across multiple classes, is back to reclaim the top spot. He’ll be sailing with Emily Anderson.

  • Emily & John Haig (2021 Champions) – The father-daughter duo who won the inaugural Melges 15 Nationals bring a unique mix of family teamwork and competitive edge.

Beyond past champions, the entry list reflects the diverse appeal of the Melges 15. Top college sailors, seasoned scow veterans, and families sailing together will all be on the starting line, highlighting the versatility of the boat and the accessibility of the class.

“The Nationals are more than just a championship — they’re a reunion of sorts,” said Clay Johnson, Colie Sails. “You’ll see Olympic medalists lining up against high school sailors, and parents competing alongside their kids. It’s a rare blend of fun and fierce competition.”

Brant Beach Yacht Club, renowned for hosting premier one-design regattas, offers ideal fall sailing conditions, ensuring three days of high-level racing and camaraderie for the growing Melges 15 class.

“The Melges 15 has quickly become one of the most exciting and competitive classes in sailing, and the record turnout for Nationals is a testament to the strength of the fleet,” said Regatta Organizer John Barbano.

The 2025 Nationals are poised to deliver tight racing, spectacular competition, and a celebration of the vibrant Melges 15 community. Follow the racing on melges15.com, Facebook, and Instagram.
